Stephen Ministry: What It Is and How It Helps
Stephen Ministers offer one-on-one, distinctively Christian care, which looks like:
- A weekly one-hour visit
- Referrals to mental health resources
- A ministry of presence and active listening
- Prayer and Christian support
All of our Stephen Ministers have received 50 hours of intensive training in many helping skills.
Please note that Stephen Ministers are not:
- Professional counselors or psychologists
- Ordained ministers
- Equipped to provide physical services such as baby-sitting, preparing meals, or transportation
- Experts in law, finance, or healthcare
