Bible study can be challenging in part because the Bible was written in a different culture and time, and with a wide variety of literary genres. Poetry is heard differently than prose, or proverbs, and sometimes the assumptions about how to hear influences what we hear. Pastor Bill Pfohl will be offering a Sporadic Wednesday evening lecture/discussion series to address a central motif of the Bible. God working through people in order to save people. In this study, we will set the stage in Paul’s letter to the Romans and then move to the most significant interpretation point in Israel’s history. Did God’s people lose the promised covenant with God and if so is there any way back. The lecture will run from 7pm to 8 pm with discussion to follow. If there are enough people who would like to have dinner beforehand we will do something in an organized way. Come for as many as you are able.
